So he can talk...But can he think?

Hi, I'm austin.

My design philosophy is: Simple. Well, not exactly, but I'll explain. If you look at my work - and I hope you do - you will see that the driving force behind what I do is utter simplicity. We all know that form follows function. But what does function follow? I didn't answer that question for a couple of years - probably because I never had the presence of mind to ASK it. But as I have moved past introductory classes and into those classes that demand a lot more thought, I have begun to consider that this question - or rather the answer to this question - can become a driving force in everything that I do as a designer. And shouldn't it?

A design should be driven by the User's needs, and only the User's needs. It is my desire to simply and effectively solve the problems that Users face from day to day through thoughtful design. In doing this, many other design problems are solved - like improving quality of life, making the world a better place, and, of course, increasing the market share of my employer. If I always consider the User's needs first in my design, all the other aspects should fall into place. Research is the only way to gather the required information. Function will become blatantly obvious. And, of course, we all know where the form comes from. With this desire to suit the User's needs as my constant focus, I hope to continue to create desirable, useful, and attractive products and systems.
